Virginia Hicks Sessions

Virginia Hicks Sessions passed away Thursday, March 10, 2022, at the age of 93.

Virginia was born November 13, 1928 to Lloyd and Julia Hicks in Bartlett, Texas. She graduated from Brownwood High School. The family eventually moved to Midland, where she went to work for the telephone company as a PBX Operator/Clerk.   It was here that she met Edgar Sessions, as he was in installer for Western Electric. They were married March 1, 1957 in Midland. Virginia left the phone company when they began their family and moved to Baird.

Virginia was a full time mom and homemaker until her children were older, and then went back to work as an Inspector for U.S. Brass in Abilene until she retired.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Baird. She helped teach a children's Sunday school class.  She was an extremely good housekeeper, incredible cook, seamstress (making so many beautiful clothes for herself and her daughter), and helper/builder of chicken, rabbit and critter pens! She was very tolerant of her children's collection of critters through the years.

Her hobbies included sewing, embroidery, quilting, sewing crafts, drawing and puzzles of all kinds.

Virginia is survived by her children, Deborah Day of Baird, and Lynn and Debbie Sessions of Clyde; her brother, Lloyd Calvin "Sonny" Hicks, Jr. of Odessa; sister-in-law Ann Hicks of Midland; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She joins her loved ones in heaven; husband Edgar Sessions, parents Lloyd and Julia Hicks, son-in-law Jeff Day, sisters Bernice Hart and Dorothy Beckham, brother Jimmy Hicks, in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends.

Graveside services will be 11:00 AM Monday, March 14, 2022, at Ross Cemetery Annex with Burtis Williams officiating.  The family requests that all who attend the service wear masks.
