Ruby Juanita “Nita” Rawson went to be with her Savior Monday, June 15, 2020, at the age of 97.
Nita was born December 1, 1922 in Rowden, Texas to John and Lillie Ann Brashear Swafford. She grew up in Rowden, attending Caddo Peak School. On November 20, 1965, she married Merton Spatcher “Stan” Rawson. Nita worked as a waitress at Blondie’s Café in Baird, and the Dixie Pig in Abilene. She and Stan owned Rawson Corner in Ranger before he preceded her in death in 1993. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Baird and very involved there. She loved to take care of others and had a servant heart. Often her way of showing how much she cared was through baking; she loved to share her baked goods with others
Nita was preceded in death by her Husband, Stan; daughter Marjorie Ann “Margie” Goodfellow Palmer; son Eddie Curtis; and siblings Carlos Jay Swafford, Alvin Raymond “Pete” Swafford, Leonard Weldon Swafford, Leon “Hoot” Swafford and Flora Carlene Swafford Gibbs
She is survived by her Sister Katie J Swafford Dunn; granddaughter Leslie Bosen and Husband Wendell of Salt Lake City, Utah; grandson Brent Palmer of Las Cruces, NM; grandson Josh Curtis and wife Nicole of Georgetown; granddaughter Meredith McMillian of Georgetown. She is also survived by five great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be Monday, June 22 at 10:00 AM at the Ross Cemetery Annex under the direction of Parker-Jacobs Funeral Home. Due to current Covid concerns, those attending are encouraged to practice social distancing.
