Mildred Tollett Obituary

Mildred Kanady Tollett passed away in Abilene, Texas on June 14, 2021, at the age of 86.  She was born July 7, 1934, to Berry and Bertha Kanady in Baird, Texas.

Mildred graduated from Baird High School, after the Bayou school closed. While in high school she was an active member of the basketball team. After graduation she married the love of her life D.F. Tollett on October 10, 1951.  They had five children: Aaron, Cynthia, Doris. Leda and Weldon.

She was a member of the Apostolic Gospel Church, where she was a great prayer warrior.  She loved to share her testimony of how God healed her of cancer, always saying before she left this world” I will not die of cancer”. She gave Bible studies to anyone in need, even offering bible studies while in the hospital.  She truly loved the Lord with all her might.

She spent many hours playing games with her family and friends. She loved to play wahoo, skip-bo, and dominos.  She was a master at winning, always giving you the winning smile and laugh at the end of the game.  To this day, her family still cannot figure out how she managed to win all those games.

She is survived by her brother Gilbert Kanady; children Cynthia Tollett, Doris Wilks, Leda Huddleston, and Weldon Tollett; grandchildren Rachel Bishop, Nolan Giesecke, Arianna Huddleston, Morgan Clark, and Kelsey Tollett; great-grandchildren Nathaniel Giesecke, Ethan Day, Laken Gaesswitz, Cayden Day, Loraleigh Gaesswitz, Miley Giesecke, Ayla Giesecke, Myla Giesecke, Tucker Bishop, and Eli Giesecke; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by parents Berry and Bertha Kanady; her husband D.F. Tollett; a son Aaron Dan Tollett; brothers Albert Kanady and Jerry Kanady.

A service of remembrance will be held at Parker Jacobs funeral home in Baird, Texas Tuesday June 22 at 5 pm.
