Mildred Evelyn “Millie” Hampton went to be with her Savior Thursday, September 15, 2022, at her residence in Oregon, after being on this earth for 98 years.
Millie was born October 12, 1923 in Merkel to Nathan Columbus and Annie Mae Dunn Joyner. She lived in Dudley much of her young life. She married Elvin Hampton in 1940, at the age of 17, on her grandparents 50th wedding anniversary. She spent her long life caring for others in many ways, taking care of her children, the elderly, and members of her church congregation and the community. Her bright, sweet spirit was showered on everyone she came in contact with. Even when times were tough, she always found a reason to smile.
Millie is survived by her children, Donna Early, Gay Nell Bruno, Elaine Hubbard and Randy Archer, Roy and Ranveig Hampton, and Cathy and Ray Inabinette; a sister, Jolene Frugia; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren and great great great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday, September 30, 2022, at Parker-Jacobs Funeral Home, 141 E. 3rd Street in Baird. Funeral services will be 1:30 PM Saturday, October 1, 2022, at First Baptist Church, 240 Race Street in Baird. Following the service, Millie will be buried in the cemetery in her childhood town of Dudley.
