Michael Britt Harris

Michael Britt Harris, 52, of Baird, tragically passed after a valiant battle with brain cancer at Hendrick Hospice in Abilene, Texas. He will be truly missed by everyone who encountered him.

He always had a vivid imagination and a love for animals. Michael was a spark that ignited any darkness you could encounter.

Michael was born on November 29, 1971, in Abilene, Texas to Ricky Lee Harris and Kathy (Sargent) Varner.

Michael graduated from Clyde High School in 1990. He was a dedicated employee of Vulcan, working at the Black Lease plant for over the last 10 years. Michael married his greatest love, Ginger, in the fall of 2019. He was an avid lover of Dungeons & Dragons and that is where he mentored numerous people. Michael was also bound to encounter greatness with each encounter in the stories that were told and told by him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Ginger Harris, of Baird, Sons Chaz Harris of Corpus Christi, Josh Harris of Iron Station, NC and Christopher Harris of Baird; Mother Kathy Varner and husband Bobby of Clyde; Sister Gina Dickerson and husband Elton; Brothers Chris Harris of Clyde, Matt Harris and wife Buffi of Mineola; Step sister LaDonna Duncan and husband Chris of Clyde; Step brother Gary Varner of Eula; Step mother Karen Harris of Mineola; Nephews Andrew and Nick Dickerson; Nieces Kaelie McKnight and husband Cameron, Shaiane Davis and husband Cameron, and Harper Harris. Plus, an exceptional multitude of Dungeons & Dragons players he mentored and adopted through the years.

He is preceded in death by wife Shane Harris, father Ricky Harris and his beloved Albus.

The visitation for Michael will be April 6, 2024 at 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM at Parker-Jacobs Funeral Home at 141 E 3rd Street in Baird. Celebration of life will be April 20, 2024 at Region 14 Services Conference Center at 1850 Highway 351 in Abilene starting at 1:00 PM.
