Lois J. Head (Nanny) of Prattville, Alabama passed away surrounded by loving family at her daughter’s Texas home on Friday, December 17, 2021, at the age of 77.
Lois was born June 17, 1944 in Panama City, Florida to Johnny and Lizzie Hill. She married Charles Wayne Head December 20, 1962, and the couple had three daughters and a son. She was a homemaker, taking care of her family, but also a proud military spouse, supporting Wayne as he served in the United States Air Force.
She loved classic country music, and she and her husband started a senior music hall in Prattville. Lois carried on the tradition after Wayne’s death. While recovering from illness, she moved from Alabama to her daughter’s home in Baird, Texas, where she loved watching the cows, donkeys and pigs, and enjoyed the dogs, especially “Daisy”. She enjoyed shopping and the thrill of sneaking her stash inside the house. More than anything, Lois loved her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Wayne Head and a daughter, Gena Hernandez.
She is survived by daughters Wanda Cortez of Mascoutah, IL and Erika Vela and spouse Bryan of Baird, TX; Son-in-law Joe Hernandez of Creedmoor, TX; son Jeremy Head of Prattville, AL; grandchildren Adrianna Moncada and spouse Josh of Creedmoor, TX, Justin Blackmon of San Antonio, Tx, Nathan Vela and spouse Erica of Pflugerville, Tx, Joey Hernandez of Pflugerville, TX, and Zachary Vela of Baird, TX; and great-grandson Jacob Hernandez of Pflugerville, TX.
A memorial service will be held at 6:30 PM Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at Parker-Jacobs Funeral Home, 141 E. 3rd Street in Baird. She will be laid to rest with her husband, Wayne, at the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, Alabama in the summer of 2022.
