Jimmy Allen Minor

Jimmy Minor of Abilene passed away Monday, February 23, 2026, at the age of 77. A graveside memorial will be held Saturday, February 28, 2026, at White Church Cemetery on County Road 247 near Merkel. Pastor David Acevedo of First Baptist Church Baird will officiate.

Jimmy was born April 8, 1948 in Coleman to John T. and Irene Hammond Minor. He graduated from Cooper High School. He had a rewarding 49 year career at the Abilene State Supported Living Center, where he touched the lives of staff and clients alike.  He could put anyone at ease when teaching new staff.  He loved his clients and friends at work, as well as his church family, who were very important to him.

He married Wilma Sue “Susie” Ward on April 21, 2010.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Ann Minor and his brother , Don Minor.

Survivors include his wife, Susie Minor of Abilene, sister Kathy Lewis of Abilene, as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family suggests memorials in Jimmy’s honor to the Abilene State Supported Living Center Volunteer Department.
