James Monroe Hopkins left this life Tuesday, May 18, 2021, at the age of 50. A graveside memorial will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, May 22, 2021 at the Belle Plaine Cemetery Pavilion on Road No. 295 South of Baird, with Cody Cochran officiating. Take highway 283 south. Turn East on CR 470, then north onto CR 473. Then turn east onto Road number 295. A reception honoring James’ life will be held at 122 CR 326, Baird, Texas 79504 following the service.
James was born May 5, 1971 in Abilene to George Hopkins and Barbara Bruce Lawrence. He attended Baird High School, where he played football. James was a very talented man, who could do anything he set out to do, whether it was team roping, welding, leather work, woodwork or playing guitar.
James was preceded in death by his father, George Hopkins; stepmother Elaine Hopkins; and nephew Hayden Harvey.
He is survived by his daughter, Heidi Heslep and husband Ryan of Abilene; sisters Kelly Jacob and husband Boyce of Breckenridge, Colorado, Toni Harvey of Clyde, Tina Sutphen of Tuscola, Brandi Bell of Baird; a brother, Danny Bell and wife April of Baird; girlfriend Carolyn Hall; several aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Honorary pallbearers will be Gregg Harvey, Bubba Wilson, Brad Johnson, Bobby McKelvy, Marty Parker, Derrick Patterson, Kody Cavasos and Cole Campbell.
