James Monroe Armstrong, age 73 of Tye, Texas passed away on June 20, 2024 with his wife by his side.
James or Monroe as he was known growing up was born in Heame, Texas, Robertson County, Texas to parents Claude H Armstrong and Wilma Mae Smith Armstrong. He was next to the youngest of nine siblings.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Wilma Armstrong, siblings, Marion, Elmer, Calvin, Jessie and Walter. Also previous wifes, Willie Juanita, Ada Lou and Linda; and one son Tony Armstrong. James is survived by his wife, Wonda Bone, son James Coy Armstrong, one Sister, Mildred Dove and two brothers, Claude (Betty) and Marvin (Patty). He is also survived by three grandsons, two granddaughters, four great granddaughters and two great grandsons.
James grew up on the family farm outside of Hearne, Texas in Robertson County, Texas. He attended Hearne schools and started his work career at an early age. With his work in construction, he traveled across Texas on schools, commercial buildings and new homes. Part of his working career include building roads in parts of Texas. James also work in maintenance at TXI in Midlothlian, Texas. Living on the farm, James leamed to hunt and fish and loved everything about hunting and fishing which included cleaning any animals and fish for his Mother to cook for a meal. James never lost his love for fishing and continued as long as he was able to go. James lended a helping hand to anyone he saw in need. He will be dearly missed by all who were fortunate to know him.
Memorial gathering is scheduled Saturday, July 6, 2024 at 10:00 am Tye Baptist Church.
