Jacqueline "Jackie" Anne Moore Obituary

Jacqueline "Jackie" Anne Moore, age 81 of Meridian, Texas - formerly of Abilene, Brownwood, Coleman, Dallas, Fort Worth, and Hamilton - passed suddenly into God’s eternal glory on Thursday, January 4, 2024 at Ascension Providence Hospital in Waco, Texas. She was born October 6,1942 in Oklahoma City. Her loving parents were John Dalton Moore Jr and Anne Fleming Moore. Jackie attended schools in Abilene, graduating from Abilene Cooper High School.

She loved the Lord Jesus Christ, and was episcopal in her faith.

During her childhood she lived in Corpus Christi, her father serving in the general corp during WWII. Later in life, she worked for years at the First National Bank of Brownwood, the US ASCS office in Coleman, and the defense industry at Texas Instruments in Dallas. She also worked for years in the medical field, proudly serving as executive assistant to the director of medical affairs at Baylor All Saints Hospital in Fort Worth, as well as in behavioral medicine at Baylor All Saints until retiring in 2004 and moving to Hamilton. Jackie worked years at the Brownwood Regional Hospital in the early 1970’s

She had many fun happy Summers and holidays in Sweetwater Texas, where she spent many happy times with her Grandfather Papa and Grandmother Mimi. Her Grandfather was owner of Edson Moore Grain, and she was with her Papa at their farm and fondly talked about how he would call up the Cows to feed. She had happy times with her Mimi at the Sweetwater Ice Cream Shop, the local swimming pool and the small movie theater. Those were memories that were engraved by happiness in Jackie’s Heart. Her Mimi and Papa were very special to her, and growing up they loved her so much. She often talked about her days living in Abilene where her Father was an Oil Engineer, and her Mother a wonderful Homemaker. She often laughed at how many weekends her Mother went with friends to shop at Thorntons Department Store. Hef love of Estee Lauder Perfumes, especially the oldest fragrance Youth Dew left a wonderful smell in the house that we kids could smell after school each day, yes, even 8 hours after we left for school. The fun times we spent at Brownwood Lake, the Brownwood Country Club Swimming pool will always be fond memories for us, especially the endless Watermelons we ate.

Jackie loved horses, trail riding, and camping, as well as taking her kids to rodeos. She loved being outdoors, going to the Galveston beach, and the lake life in Brownwood.  She cherished her dogs Rambo, Su Boy, Cujo, and Archie, as well as days working in her garden. She had a special place in her heart for her plants and the birds and squirrels she got to watch treat themselves to her bird bath on hot summer days.

Jackie relished any opportunity to cook and is especially remembered for those great Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners over many, many years - the trash cereal snack and her fudge were family favorites and she passed the greatness of her recipes to her sweet daughter, Leanna.

It is often said there is but one in life and she was that one. Jackie was a sweet person with a special heart, and she never hesitated to help others. She was endlessly cheerful, outgoing and sociable, and always there to uplift those who were down. She will be missed and remembered for her jokes, her loud and contagious laugh, her sense of style, sophistication, love of animals, jazz music, and a fiery charm unmatched by any other.

She leaves many good and happy memories behind for those who loved her - memories we will all cherish until the end of time.

Momma, we all miss and love you "bushels and a peck."

She was preceded in death by her grandfather Dalton Moore Sr, her grandmother Anne Y. Moore, her parents John Dalton Moore jr and Anne Fleming Moore.

She is survived by 2 sons and 1 daughter, Carrell Moore Parker of Houston, Texas, Scott Parker of Meridian, Texas, and Leanna Parker Goodwin of Dallas, Texas  She is also survived by 5 wonderful grandchildren, Matthew and Daniel of London, Ontario, Canada, Caleb of Fort Worth, Texas, and Jordan and Zoe of Dallas, Texas
