Glynda Beth “Bid” Gilbreath Poe, age 85, passed away on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in Bedford, Texas.
A visitation will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, February 19, 2022, at Parker-Jacobs Funeral Home in Baird, with a graveside service with Jason Waller officiating, following at 3:00 PM in the Ross Cemetery Annex.
Bid was born August 3, 1936 in Brownwood, Texas to Roy Gilbreath and Audie Penn Gilbreath. She moved to Baird in 1944 from Hamlin, Texas graduating from Baird High School in 1954 and later graduating from Southwest Texas State Teachers College. She married Bobby Poe in September, 1957, and they moved to Belleville, Illinois in 1969. She worked as a teacher in the Texas public school system, then a homemaker and later as a sales associate at Famous Barr/Macy’s in Fairview Heights, Illinois.
Bid loved her family and friends enjoyed social gatherings, camping and fishing, slot machines at the casinos, Joe T Garcia’s Mexican Food, and being a member of the Belleville, IL Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Her sense of humor will be missed.
She is survived by her three sons, Bobby (Pam) of North Ogden, Utah; Barry (Donna) of Coppell, Texas; and Tres Poe of Belleville, Illinois; seven grandchildren, Nikki (John) Wooldridge, Sean (Ashley) Poe; Shana Poe, Katie Poe; Laura Poe; Emily (Scott) Sutton, and Fred Poe; and four great-grandchildren Juliette Woolridge, Bretlyn Woolridge, Parker Poe and Dianna Sutton.
Bid was preceded in death by three sisters and her parents
