Glen Cox Obituary

Glen Eugene Cox, 64, of Abilene, Texas, entered into the arms of Jesus Christ on Thursday, January 23, 2025, surrounded by family after a short and courageous battle with brain cancer. He left behind a legacy of love, faith, and warmth. A private funeral service will be held on Sunday, January 26 at Parker-Jacobs Funeral Home in Baird, Texas with Jeff Reid officiating. Burial will be at Lost Creek Cemetery in May, Texas.

Glen was born May 31, 1960 in Phoenix, Arizona to Glen Arlan Cox and Sheron Eva (Martin) Cox. He graduated from Roy J. Wasson High School in Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1978. Glen moved to Abilene, Texas with his family in 1985. He met the love of his life, Sharon Darlene Clifton in the Singles Department at Pioneer Drive Baptist Church on Palm Sunday, March 23,1997 and they married on June 20, 1997. They celebrated 27 years of marriage, always being thankful and praising God for finding each other.

Glen worked in Abilene for Crown Cork and Seal for over 22 years and retired after working for Lowes for 13 years. He loved to spend time with family and hosting holiday gatherings in the large sunroom that he built. He would spend weeks decorating and preparing the house for holidays that brought joy and smiles to all. He got such happiness from serving others, whether it was working on the farm for his mother, assisting a family member with a project, or pulling over to change a tire for a stranger. He loved and appreciated Pioneer Drive Baptist Church and his Sunday School Department. His faith in God guided him throughout life. Glen’s favorite hobby was camping in their motor home and inviting friends and family to enjoy his cooking and entertainment in the decorated campsite that he specially designed for Darlene.

Glen was preceded in death by his father, Glen Arlan Cox, and his oldest sister, Cindy Mae Cox Moore.

Survivors include his wife Sharon Darlene Clifton of Abilene; mother Sheron White of Tuscola; sisters Sarelda Haynes and husband David of Tuscola and Correne Allen of Blackwell; sons William (Bill) Cox and wife Melissa of Mesquite and Glen Edward Cox and Katelyn Losier of Stark, New Hampshire; grandchildren Alex Cox, Lizzi Cox, Haley Cox, Heather Cox, Sarah Cox, Kitty Koger and Jaylyn Losier; and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Hendrick Hospice Care Center for their kindness and loving care that was given to our precious Glen and the family in his final days.
