Frieda Pearl Fly, 93, died Monday, December 12, 2022 at Homestead Nursing in Baird, Texas. She was born December 22, 1928, in Haskell, Texas, the daughter of Rueben Densmore and Pearl (Collins) Lackey.
Frieda graduated from Haskell High School as class of 1946. Following graduation she married Bobby Joe Adkins and they had two sons, Johnny Densmore Adkins and Jerry Dan Adkins. Sadly, Jerry passed away in 1968. Frieda was then married to Edwin L. Fly for nearly 35 years until his death in 2004. Frieda worked for the USDA/FSA for many years up until her retirement. Then she and Fly enjoyed traveling the world, playing golf at the Knox City Country Club, cooking and entertaining friends. In 2011, Frieda moved to Baird to be closer to her family.
Frieda is preceded in death by her parents, Rueben and Pearl; her husband, Edwin; four sisters, Willie Andress, Naomi Andress, Alta Faye Davis Field and Juanita Hamilton Grimes; her youngest son, Jerry; her daughter-in-law, Leonna Kay Adkins; and several nieces and nephews.
Frieda is survived by her oldest son, Johnny; granddaughter, Christy Burke and husband, Ramey of McKinny; grandson, John Adkins and wife, Melanie of Baird; great-granddaughter, Lilly Burke; great-grandson, Austin Adkins and fiancee, Jerrica; and one great-great-granddaughter, Katie Anette Adkins; along with several nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 2PM, Friday, December 16, 2022 at Willow Cemetery in Haskell under the direction of Parker Jacobs Funeral Home of Baird.
