Eva Amanda Calvin of Abilene passed away Thursday, April 13, 2023, at the age of 67.
Eva was born September 15, 1955 in Fort Worth to Joe Bailey Sr. and Lona Dorothy Chaney Rice. She graduated from Estacado High School as the Valedictorian of the Class of 1972. Eva married Martin L. Calvin July 29, 1983, and the couple was married 39 years and 10 months. She worked for Hendrick Hospital in Purchasing for 30 years. She was baptized in 1970, and was dedicated to her Lord and Savior and His service. She held several offices in the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, which she was a member of for 51 years.
She loved fishing and camping with family and friends. She was smart, caring, loving and dedicated to her husband, children and grandchildren. Eva was a good listener, and often had a quick come-back for any remarks made.
She was preceded in death by grandparents B.W. and Amanda L. Chaney and Joe and Eva Rice; parents Joe B. Rice Sr and Lona D. Gerbig; stepdad Victor Gerbig; brothers Don H. Garrison and Joe B. Rice Jr.; and sisters Wynonna Rice and Joyce Marie Rice.
Survivors include her husband Martin L. Calvin; daughter Leona M. Wauer and daughter; sons Phillip Wauer and family and Tobias L. Calvin and family; sister Clovia Rice and children; brothers Norvell Garrison and family and Kenneth J. Rice and family.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, April 17, 2023 at Parker-Jacobs Funeral Home, 141 E 3rd Street in Baird, with Ben Balanay officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Eva’s honor to Hendrick Hospice Care Center or to the Seventh-Day Adventists Insurance Fund or Building Fund.
