Enrique “Henry” Silba

Enrique “Henry” Silba passed away Friday, January 22, 2021 in Abilene, just two days before his 77th birthday.

Henry was born January 24, 1944, to Domingo and Juanita Silba in Millsap, Texas. The family  relocated to Baird, Texas as his father worked on the railroad.  As a child he attended Baird Elementary where he made many friends that he would continue to call friends throughout his life.

Henry and Alice were married on November 17, 1962,  and made their home in Baird,  where they would raise their 3 daughters.  Henry started his own business, Henry’s Tire Service after working for Firestone in Abilene, Texas, and Bulldog Steel in Clyde. After health conditions impacted his business, he  later worked with and retired from Callahan County.  Henry was also seen regularly in the kitchen of Alice’s making his famous hot sauce, which had a little extra kick if Alice had made him mad.

He enjoyed dancing, fishing, being a mechanic, watching his Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers. He even supported and helped numerous nieces and nephews, in sports and in life. He especially enjoyed seeing his grandchildren and great grandchild play.

Those left to remember Henry include his daughters; Kathy Silba and Chris Chavarria and husband Leonard; four grandchildren,  J.J. Carrillo and wife Carrie, Kayla Carrillo and fiancé Colby Hicks, Cissy Ziegenhagen and husband Michael, and Thomas Chavarria and wife Sarah; 11 great-grandchildren, Parker Adams, Dominic, Xander, Zoe, and Riddick Carrillo.

Olivia, Bella, Ava, and Sebastian Ziegenhagen. and Ryan and Jace Mata; a sister Alex Mendez; sister-in-law Delores Gonzales; brothers-in-law Fred Mendez, Larry Segura, and Manuel Carrillo; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Alice Silba; youngest daughter Stephanie Silba; parents Domingo and Juanita Silba; sisters Lillia Gonzales, Manuela Mendez and Dominga ‘Minga’ Mendez;  Alberta Segura, and Mary Helen Cooney.

A viewing will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Monday, January 25, 2021 at Parker-Jacobs Funeral Home. Rosary will be 6:00 PM Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at the funeral home. Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 837 Jeanette Street, in Abilene.  Burial will follow at Ross Cemetery.   Those attending are reminded of social distancing guidelines. Face coverings are required.
