Carroll Dean Smith passed away Sunday, January 29, 2023 in Lee’s Summit, Missouri at the age of 88.
Carroll was born May 19, 1934 in Callahan County, Texas to Hulon Orval and Sarah Etta Smith. He graduated high school in Putnam, Texas in 1952. He married Jeanell Miller April 4, 1953 in Putnam, and they settled in Grand Prairie.
He was a mechanic for Graff and Vandergriff Chevrolet for most of his work years and owned a Shell Station from 1966 to 1968.
Chemical Dynamics was his last place of work
Carroll was a very kind, loving man who worked hard and loved his two children and their spouses, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved living a simple life. His primary interests included working on cars, boating and waterskiing, and his greatest love was being on the water at Possum Kingdom Lake.
Carroll was preceded in death by his wife Jeanell; his parents; and a brother, Clifford A. Smith.
He is survived by his daughter Carolyn Mulder (John) of Missouri; son David Smith (Cathy) of Georgia; grandchildren Matt Mulder, Mindy Matter ((Pat), Kim Angolo (Caleb), Eric Smith (Erin), Stacy Bright (Bo), Kittery Duffield (Nathan), and Lee Maine (Morgan); great-grandchildren Rai, Jeremiah, Isaiah, and Olivia Angolo, Dean, Matthew and Trystan Mulder, Emily and Samantha Matter, Everett, Prudence, Owen, Munroe and Wade Smith, Rowen and Ramsey Maine, Ryker Duffield, and Madison, Jake and Jackson Maine.
Graveside services under the direction of Parker-Jacobs Funeral Home will be 2:00 PM Saturday, February 4, 2023 at Putnam Cemetery, with Sam Stone officiating. Pallbearers will be John Mulder, Dean Mulder, Matt Mulder, Rai Angolo, and Jeremiah Angolo.
