Billy "Buck" James

Billy “Buck” James of Baird went to be with his Savior Friday, July 18, 2025, at the age of 75.

Bill, or “Buck” as he was known to many, was born September 8, 1949 in Houston to Bill and Doris James. He grew up in Abilene, graduating from Abilene High School.  He married Debbie Turnbow and the couple had three sons.  They have made their home in Baird for the past 27 years.

He had a love for the Lord and music, and was a long-time member of First Presbyterian Church Baird, where he exhibited the true heart of a servant.

He was preceded in death by his parents and son Brandon.

Survivors include wife Debbie of Baird; sons Jason of Potosi and Clayton and wife Shonda of Baird; grandchildren Christian Barbian of Abilene, Dylan of Potosi, Ian of Baird, Avalyn of Potosi and Wiley of Baird; sister Debbie; brother-in-law Joe Turnbow, sisters-in-law Bobbie Turnbow and DeeDee Turnbow , nieces and nephews and many friends.

A memorial service celebrating Bill’s life will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, July 26, 2025, at First Presbyterian Church, 140 E. 4th Street in Baird.
