Betty Jo Jennings of Baird went to be with her Savior Friday, March 21, 2025, at the age of 89.
Betty Jo was born July 31, 1935 in Star City, Arkansas to Clyde and Lois Felly Workman. She graduated from Avoca High School in 1953. She married Gerald Jennings July 29, 1955 at Avoca Baptist Church. She was a housewife and worked as a teacher’s aide for Eula and Baird schools. She was a member of First Baptist Church Baird, where she taught children’s and preschool Sunday school classes for years.
Betty Jo had a compassionate heart of gold and made everyone feel special. Through the years, she attended all events she could in support of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved them all dearly. She was “granny” to not only her grandchildren, but to countless others who she treated like they were hers. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and was truly the strength of the family.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Gerald Jennings, her parents and sister Martha Price.
Survivors include sons Jerry Jennings and Garry Jennings and wife Karen, all of Baird; daughter Jodi Jacques and husband Eddie of Abilene; six grandchildren, Krissi, Karli, Garrett, Nicole, Emily and Caleb; 10 great-grandchildren, Kylie, Konnor, Kendell, Cooper, Colten, Kaydence, Jace, Jorden, Graham and Miller; five siblings, Maurice Workman, Mike Workman, Pat Lucas, Wanda Dawley and Charlie Workman; and numerous nieces and nephews
Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday, March 28, 2025, at Parker-Jacobs Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, March 29, 2025, at First Baptist Church Baird with Jimmy Hatcher and David Cason officiating. Burial will be in Ross Cemetery Spencer Price Addition.
